Gymnastics

In our gymnastics lessons we have been learning how to move in different ways and how to do the tuck and star shapes. We have also had lots of fun working with a partner and mirroring one another.

Tasting Porridge

As part of exploring the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears we made and tasted porridge. We used our senses to talk about the oats and other ingredients before they were heated and then compared them to how they were once they were cooked. We also talked about how porridge is a great choice for breakfast as it hasn’t got any sugar and gives us long lasting energy.

Wriggly Nativity

We all had lots of fun learning all of the catchy songs and dressing up in our amazing costumes to perform the wriggly nativity.

Diwali

We have really enjoyed learning about and celebrating Diwali in Reception. We created our own rangoli patterns and made lanterns, as well as making and decorating diva lamps using salt dough.

Children in Need

EYFS have been learning about how and why we raise money for  ‘Children in Need’ and how it helps so many children. We loved our ‘Children in Need’ themed crafts and the highlight of our day was meeting Pudsey Bear!

Reception Timetable

Weekly Timetable Autumn

Here is a  copy of the Reception weekly timetable. Across the week there is a balance and mixture of phonics and handwriting, maths, Talk for Writing, reading, PE and forest school and story times. Each session is very practical and interactive and differentiated to each child’s needs and also takes into account children’s interests too. Some weeks will different depending if there is a WOW day linked to a festival or event such as Diwali or fire engine coming in.

Welcome to the Reception blog 21-22

Welcome to our Reception blog page.

We would like to begin by thanking you all for helping with the smooth transition of starting school. The children have all settled in so brilliantly and have adapted to lots of new changes. Thank you for accommodating the staggered drop offs and collections during their transition fortnight.

The purpose of this blog will be to give you an insight into activities/sessions your children have been involved in, give you an understanding of the content we are covering in class and what areas of the curriculum they have worked towards. A description will always be written alongside their photos to give you a taster of what your child has been up to that week/day. It will help with conversations at home about school life too! We welcome comments and will check these and respond to them.

We are so proud of every single child and how well they are doing so far this year. It is lovely getting to know each and everyone of the children with their ‘All About Me’ bags.  It’s great watching old friendships strengthen and new ones blossom and to hear them talking to one another about their interests is fantastic.

Here is a taster of what the children have been up to whilst they have been settling into school life. They have had so much fun choosing different activities and it has been lovely to see the children explore their classrooms and the outside area.
